I purchased one of these and have it connected as back up for my home power supply. The unit failed this morning while in operation during a city supply power outage. Upon inspection the casing around the generator where it connects to the engine has a huge crack.....which resulted in the unit grinding to a halt....I am still waiting for the Kipor Dealers to tell me what happened.... The unit has less than 80 operating hours......

When i first got generator i put oil and gas in, it ran for about two hours and never ran again. Had the carb. worked on and it ran for 20 min. I took it back to the mechanic and he replace the carb. so far so good, ran it at the race track all day, it ran my 13,000 btu air conditioner in my travel trailer .

do not buy from amazon .. buy from a more respectable company, like homedepot ..ect.. amazon will not return item even if its unopened unused and only a day old... homedepot and lowes and such will return after or before 90 days....this company could care less, only cares if it has your money!!! Customer Review: A Solid Buy
Went "dry camping" at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend. As a former mechanic, I never messed w/propane power prior to buying this unit. There's some great advice in the other reviews, so I'll just touch on a few things. One, the oil FILL is easy to find; it takes about 6/10ths of a quart to start, but check it after the first run as it will likely take another 1/10 to 2/10. The oil DRAIN plugs are not marked but there were 2 on my unit (front and back) in the bottom of the housing. Two, the small brass screw in the top is a METERING screw to control the proper flow of fuel DO NOT MESS WITH IT!!!!!! (You will tear your hair out getting it to run smoothly; I'm almost bald from the experience!!!!) Three, starting the unit with the air filter out is not a good thing (even though it works). Even better, go to a hardware store that deals with your local lawncare pros, and buy a filter (ROTARY P/N 27-10311) that's the size and density of the stock unit or bigger BUT ONLY TWO THIRDS AS THICK. (I used my stock filter as a pattern to cut the Rotary filter.) Oil it down as you would any "wet" filter but squeeze it out in an old towel or several paper towels; my stock filter was WAY too saturated to allow air through it!) Four, it only took one time of "choking" it to begin running when cold; but I had to re-try six to eight times to get it to stay running after changing tanks. Five, it is NOT conversation quiet; but was not louder than most of the units around us. Honda "quiet" is way too expensive for a few times a year at the track. Now, the good stuff: after a few moments of running it smoothed out and took the load I put to it. (Camping World sells the L5-30R 30amp to 50amp "dog bone" adapter you Montana owners will need.) My rig uses a 15,000 btu A/C unit which I powered up first, then the on-board converter, the regular lights, Fantastic fan, and the water pump. I only mention these items to give an idea of the load range. We ran 17 hours on one 30 lb tank. (Ran the fridge on the other propane tank.) BEST BENEFIT: not having to lug around gasoline, which BTW was NOT available on site. Great unit for the money!

This item was purchased for use at home and when traveling in a fifth wheel. It does not provide the wattage needed for large items but will keep the a/c unit running in a 30 amp trailer which is good for summer use. It did provide power for small tools but would throw the breaker if the item got into a bind. All-in-all this generator should work well for the cost and use I wanted. One of the big pluses for propane is you don't have to drain and bleed the lines when not in used for a long time.

I gave this generator a FIVE star rating BUT ONLY IF it has a HONDA engine. Nowhere in the product description was there ANY mention of a Honda engine. Costco has a Honeywell "7000" generator in their stores here in California that are selling fo 999.99 + Tax that have Honda engines. I tried to turn the box to get an exact model number but it was simply too heavy to do so. But the overall description sounds like the exact same one! Go figure the way Amazon does things. The picture even looks like the exact same one I was looking at at Costco!

My local RV store sells this for 699.00, it has electric start mind you but still at 365.00 for the pull start it is a bargin price wise... It ran perfectly on our camper running the air conditioner, lights, radio, microwave, etc.... I wish I was silent but thats just a silly thought as that is quite impossible. Maybe an add on additional muffler option!?! I would buy that in a second.... So far very happy with this and I would certanly recomend!!!
Customer Review: Not bad for the money
I purchased this a little while back. I use it for running my 29 foot travel trailer's electric needs. It had a couple little burps when it tried to start the 13.5 btu unit. The first time I took it out for a full run, it also, actually tripped it's onboard breakers when I tried to run the microwave at the same time the coffee maker was brewing. I was initially very impressed with it being quiet, but that went away after about 5 hours run time. It's still somewhat quiet, but there were times when it was running without a load that it got very loud.I wish it was available with "throttle management" so it backed down when there was no load. I put about 70 hours on it the first long weekend on a remote camping trip. I used about 16 gallons of gas. You have to change the oil at 5 and 50 hours, that was kind of messy. The oil drain is lined up right along the steel roll cage base frame. Filling it was like any motor but it came with a special funnel that made it bearable. I'm thinking I'll add a piece of pipe to the drain with a plug so that future oil changes are cleaner and easier. I would say, for the money it's a "fair" buy. Nothing horrible about it but nothing amazing either. It's better than paying over $2000 for a Honda that is only rated at 10 Db quieter.

Customer Review: Good Generator. Get a trickel charger
I continue to use this generator. Almost 2 years and with the exception of a the stickers peeling off (happens when you spill diesel) it has held up pretty darn good. I also recommend a trickel charger. Even a small solar panel, such as a 2 watt panel, connected to the battery if you don't use it for a couple of months at a time. I have 250+ hours. Changed the oil one time. I put Synth Mobil 1. No problems so far.

Customer Review: So far, so good...
For the price this generator is a great purchase. Although I have only used the Honeywell a dozen or so times it has worked perfectly. I am using it to field charge large Lipo batteries with a 1000w power supply for radio controlled helicopters. Charging at 20 amps. As already mentioned the HW1000i is not as quite as the Honda and maybe not as smooth running but for the price you cannot go wrong. One thing I did find is if you do not shut off the fuel and tank vent immediately after stopping the generator the next start takes a few times. If you shut these off and after sitting awhile it starts right back up. I will update this context after some more time using the Honeywell.
Customer Review: Stopped after 10 hours
Initially the generator worked great. Starting on first pull, but after about 10 hours, it suddenly stopped running and could not be started. Using the shipped tools, I was able to find and incredibly fouled spark plug. I don't know what caused this to occur, but there was black carbon particles wedged between the electrode and the tip. Basically NO Spark. Since cleaning, it has run problem free.

For a diesel generator the price is extremely low. This could be a red flag on quality, but the one I received seems to work fine. The 1st initial start took a 4 tries before it stayed running and and it took about 1-2 minutes to smooth out, but it works just fine now,,,smooth engine and producing electricity. You get what you pay for, but this one seems put together well. A diesel generator is definitely the type to buy and this price is a steal for an electric start diesel.

So far I am delighted with this XP4400E generator. It arrived via FEDEX fine, packing is superb, and assembly of wheel kit and handles was very straiaght forward. I did charge the battery overnight before adding oil and preparing unit to start. It started immediately and ran smooth right out of the box. I really do like the electric start feature as my wife can start generator with no problems. Unit is not too loud and is easily moved about on the wheels. Only tested so far by running a vacuum cleaner. I am planning to have transfer switch wired into our breaker panelmainly to run well pump, pellet stove and a few lights. The included instruction manual is quite good and includes detailed parts listing.
